The initial performance on Lake Lucerne was flawless, thanks to clear GNSS signals. However, when the project moved to the Berlin Festival of Lights, the team faced a challenge. The performance was planned on Piano Lake, a small artificial pond surrounded by tall buildings. This caused the swans to move in unexpected ways, not the smooth ballet that was planned.
How did the customer fix this?
Ardusimple’s simpleRTK2B boards came to the rescue. The team upgraded the swans with ArduSimple’s RTK boards with ZED-F9P module and radio plugins, added lightweight helical antennas for better signal reception. They also set up a local RTK base station to provide RTK corrections to swans’ receivers via radio.
