Hi – I have two simpleRTK2Bs with Survey GNSS antennas. I use one as base station via a laptop with SNIPE and one as rover. When I use the rover via USB on either a Windows Laptop or an Android Tablet, everything works fine.
However, I also have an XBee Bluetooth unit (AS-XBEE-BT-2.4-INT-00) that I was planning to use for the rover. Unfortunately I cannot make the XBee Bluetooth work on neither the Windows Laptop nor the Android Tablet. I have 4 blue LEDs: i) LED2 (Power) = Blue fixed, ii) GPS > XBEE = Blue long flash, iii) GPS Fix = Blue short flash, iv) No RTK = Blue fixed. I take ii) to indicate that the problem is not related to comms. between the simpleRTK2B and the XBee unit.
The XBee appears as RTK_GNSS_255 on the list of selectable units on both the Android tablet and the Laptop. Prior to connection, LED 1 on the XBee flashes RED rapidly. I can then proceed to connect using the code 1234. Upon connection LED 1 goes dark, the unit appears as connected on the Android Tablet (alternatively on the PC – not both at the same time). Then, within ca 2 sec the tablet is disconnected and LED 1 starts flashing slowly RED. LED 2 on the XBee remains dark in all phases.
Any suggestions on how I may make it work are very welcome.

Hi lynx,
Do you have the simpleRTK2B configured correctly? At 38’400bps and maximum 1Hz via bluetooth. Check out our configuration files as a starting point: http://www.ardusimple.com/configuration-files

Hi thanks for your response. Yes I was using the “simpleRTK2B_FW113_Bluetooth-02”. as instructed, including sent save config. I have redone that now and all remains as described above.

Hi lynx,
Can you try to connect with this app and see if you receive any data: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.kai_morich.serial_bluetooth_terminal

Hi – Yes that works.

In the list of connected and previously connected Bluetooth devices the, RTK_GNSS255 is listed under the latter. However it seems the serial bluetooth app manages to connect to it and activate it. This is not the case for e.g GNSS Status, SW Maps. However, GPS Connector is able to connect to the device.

The Lefebure NTRIP Client is not able to connect to the device. The messages are:
08:01:06 Service Started
08:01:06 Device: RTK_GNSS_255
08:01:06 Device: Trying to Connect…
08:01:07 Device: Failed to Connect: java.io.IOException: read failed, socket might closed or timeout, read ret:-1
Update: The problem was on the Android/Lenovo side. The connection would only be properly established when an app requested the services from the Ardusimple gps. What appeared as a disconnect was rather some sort of dormant connection mode and some apps would make this work. Works fine with SW maps and Field Bee on my Tablet. Lenovo P11 Plus with Android 11.

Hi lynx,
Can you share a screenshot of the text shown by Serial Bluetooth Terminal? Maybe from there we can see if there is something not OK.
