I have been running into issues when converting my .ubx to rinex using rtkconv where looking at the trace file, the error is “ubx length error” and “ubx checksum error”. A thought I have is what is the minimum amount of time do I need to record the rawx and sfrbx messages for the conversion to happen since I have only been recording for 1 min for testing? If recording time is not an issue, what might a potential problem be?

No clear to me how errors in the data stream relate to time logging. Seems a bit of a jump in the logic.

For post-processing, and certainly experimental stages, I’d suggest collecting at least 15-20 mins of data.
For a base station/reference type thing I’d have it generate hourly RINEX files.

Inspect the data in a file viewer, make sure you don’t have any “$GxTXT txbuf,alloc” type warnings indicating one or more of your interfaces is saturating with data, and that data loss, packet corruption, etc are a result of misconfiguration.

I recorded a file for 30mins. Opening the resulting .txt seems to be not human readable. Is that just the nature of .ubx or it is corrupted. I tried to open it in u-center but to no avail. I tried converting it to rinex and got the E:8. Don’t know if those new info helps.

The RXM-RAWX and RXM-SFRBX messages are binary, so won’t be readable, but the .UBX can be a mix of NMEA, UBX and RTCM3 data

The RINEX conversion creates the ASCII/FORTRAN output that format describes.

Thank you so much for the help. I figured the issue out from another post on the forum. Turn out, if one intended to use ardusimple’s receiver and logger, the logger need to be set to 115200 and the receiver need to output rawx and sfrbx at 57600 for it to work.
